Ron Jeremy recently spoke at the Nebraska Union to defend Pornography in debate against Activist Susan G. Cole. Hundreds of Nebraskans lined the walls to see the fabled “Dong Juan” do his thing, few of which looked over the age of 25.

Susan’s message sounded like that of a thousand activists before her. Her main points regarded the availability of adult content to minors and how she believes Porn is reshaping our notions of sexuality. Of course, considering the time worn argument, most of Ron Jeremy’s speech sounded about the same as well. I will give Susan kudos for having a serious argument with Ron while he was wearing a purple hawaiian crocodile shirt though. Lookin’ snappy Ron!

Susan’s remarks tended to skew from targeting Pornography to targeting Ron himself at some points, and I would like to address those.

“The truth of the matter is that Ron Jeremy’s time has gone,” Cole said. “He is, when it comes to the reality of pornography in 2010, completely irrelevant.”

Counter Point: So then you could say the same of someone like Babe Ruth in regard to Baseball? You have an interesting stand point Susan. The Babe is dead and has more relevance to Baseball than you do today, without having seen a single second of it played in 2010. Maybe you should dig him up and tell him he’s irrelevant.

“We think we have control,” Cole said. “We think our sexuality is the last bastion of our individualism, and I say that is actually changing, that we are losing control of what’s turning us on.”

Counter Point: The only way this makes any sense as a threat, is if you whole heartedly believe in the religious puritan principles this country was started from. If you do, then things like the Salem Witch Trials were totally fine right?

So what if our notions of sexuality are changing? The human race is always evolving and adapting in everything it does. That’s why we don’t drown people to make sure they don’t use black magic anymore!

Alright, enough hate. Debate with more of these kind of people Ron. The rebuttal is so much more fun

Ron Jeremy made quite the mark in Vegas this weekend. He has stepped in a heaping pile of “leet” shit, but for the benefit of developing minds.

Ron spent his time in Vegas hopping back and forth between the Adult Entertainment Expo and the Consumer Electronics Show which happened simultaneously. During his time at CES, his main goals were to stand up for the adult entertainment business and promote internet safety through InternetSafety.com. Unfortunately, it seems Ron Jeremy’s message has been a bit convoluted.

Gaming is a subject that hits very close to this writer’s heart. “Studies have found that violent video games are a much bigger negative influence on kids,” Ron Jeremy stated at CES. Since this statement, many Gamer blogs have responded negatively towards Ron. As an avid adult gamer myself, I would urge you to see this point of view for what it really is.

For example, take the most popular violent title today, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.” If playing the title over a network such as XBOX Live, I’m sure anyone over the age of 25 would say, “hearing a 10 year blurt out obscenities after shooting you in the face is a little ridiculous.” This is the type of thing Ron Jeremy is obviously making his statement about. I, as a gamer, could never think someone who most recently starred in a commercial series for a violent cartoon fighting game, would be publicly attacking the genre’s very existence as a whole.

It is implied by Ron Jeremy that neither Pornography nor Violent Gaming are acceptable for children. In the interest of Internet Safety, which is why Ron was in attendance, both should be censored by parents for their children’s sakes. Violent Gaming is widely more accepted by parents than Pornography in the home, but also has adverse effects. As an advocate of parental responsibility with regards to technology, Ron’s need to bring attention to this isn’t all that “off the wall.”

Between Porn and Gaming, Porn has most certainly gotten the short end of the stick in public media. Be that as it may, you still don’t see as many 12 year old children having sex on camera as you do see the same age group regurgitating offensive phrases they hear over video games. Porn has done much to protect minors from viewing it’s materials. Gaming has also instituted ratings for mature games and such, but has nowhere close to the success rate of the Adult Industry in comparison.

So calm down all you avid adult gamers out there. This one was meant for the kids.

On Wednesday, Nov. 11, Ron Jeremy, known as the King of Porn, will lock heads with Pastor Craig Gross, founder of the XXXChurch, at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh as part of the Speaker Series.

“Porn gets inside the brain like a parasite” Gross said. “There’s no such thing as ‘Please watch porn responsibly’.”

The porn industry often locks in their viewers by offering free clips, then charging to view. “They hook to get you back in for more” says Gross.

Ron Jeremy does not share the same views about the industry. “It’s just porn,” he says.

It’s apparent that both Gross and Jeremy have two different overall views. They do however agree on one thing; pornography is only for adults.

“We’re not opponents, we’re friends” Gross said. “We have a great friendship, even though we are not alike.”

Both Gross and Jeremy have been on the road doing debates across the country, and have gotten to know each other well.

“I really believe that Ron does not think porn hurts people…but he is an overall great guy that loves people,” says Gross.

Jeremy had nothing but positive things to say of his friendship with Gross; “I like what he’s doing,” Jeremy said. “Girls that don’t belong in the industry, he helps to save them.”

Sage-like words from the Pastor and the Porn Star…

Porn has been very very good to Ron Jeremy, the cherubic hardcore star who, paradoxically, could serve as an inspiration either for the main character in Hung or a figure in a Disney film. (One of his nicknames is, after all, “Hedgehog.”) After appearing in nearly 2,000 adult films, Jeremy is considered an elder statesman of porn.

On the other hand, Las Vegas’ Craig Gross is the founder of both the Strip Church and Fireproof Ministries that reaches out to “unchurched people,” as well as the Triple X Church, which is not so much a church as “a Web network that helps those struggling with pornography or workers in the sex industry.”

The two men will face off in what’s described as a friendly debate titled “The Pastor and the Porn Star.” What the debate could be over is unclear — theology? bukkake techniques? Jeremy, besides being a porn icon, is Jewish, so it will be interesting to see what common ground he and Gross will find. A press release says Gross will try to persuade Jeremy of “Jesus’ love for Jeremy and all porn stars while drawing attention to the damage that pornography causes.”

By a coincidence, Gross has a book out called Jesus Loves You . . . This I Know, which, we are told, “shares the simple message that Jesus loves you no matter who you are or what you have done.” Or, in Jeremy’s case, who you have done. It all takes place where the spirit and the body meet, USC.

After Craig and Ron’s tour bus was hit two months ago by a drunk driver, some might call every stop from then on…a blessing. Tonight is sure to be nothing less.

Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is facing charges of peddling Barack Obama’s Senate seat. But he has the support of America’s top flesh-peddlers.

In May, Dennis Hof, proprietor of the Moonlite Bunny Ranch, offered the out-of-work gov a job at Nevada’s famed legal brothel — hiring and training his ladies, as well as meting out “proper disciplinary action.”

So Hof was delighted the other night when, while he was dining with porn legend Ron Jeremy at L.A.’s Rainbow Bar & Grill, Blagojevich came over to say hello. “He’s a great guy,” says Hof, whose HBO show, “Cathouse,” kicks off its eighth season Oct. 22. “I believe he’s going to be acquitted.”

Jeremy agrees: “All he did was try to sell a Senate seat — supposedly. I found him charming. He said, ‘You’re kind of iconic, aren’t you?’ I’ll be on my knees in five seconds for anybody who says that to me.”

Blagojevich tells us he “respectfully” declined Hof’s invitation to become a ranch hand.

“I don’t think prostitution should be legalized,” says Blago, whose book, “The Governor,” is just out. “I don’t think [sex] is the kind of thing people should pay for.

“I did say his business was like politics. Both are the oldest professions. I would never take money for services. But in my business it’s very easy to get screwed.”

Hoping to further the conversation dealing with the role of pornography and it’s alleged effects on our society, seminal porn champion Ron Jeremy will be debating Craig Gross, leader of the XXX Church tonight @ 8pm on Drexel University’s campus in Philadelphia, PA.

So far, the debates have managed to remain intelligent, bringing up many issues that need frank discussion in a context of ever growing legislation.

Both participants will explore questions relating to the the image of woman in porn, whether or not porn can be classified as an addiction, how porn affects relationships, and questions pertaining to personal freedom and forms of expression.
