After showing the comedic adolescents a thing-or-two on his trusty harmonica, Ron Jeremy proceeds to dissect the science behind Comedy Central’s celebrity roasts.

During the first video clip below, Gail Dines seems to confuse her feminist argument after Ron Jeremy states that roughly fifty percent of pornography is produced by women today. Gail replies, citing a recent study comparing pornography produced by women to pornography produced by men, that studies show porn produced by women is more violent than that of men. Somewhere within the matter of seconds it took for Gail to respond with this fact, she seemed to forget she was on the Joy Behar Show to represent women as a whole. Well, it seems maybe Doctor Dines just represents some women, and not women who produce pornography for the Adult Industry.

The second clip focuses on the effects pornography may have on relationships. After Ron Jeremy once again makes a valid point on there being a wide range of different types of porn being produced today, Gail Dines backtracks by agreeing there is pornography being watched by couples. She then augments her original argument by stating men watch “body punishing”, Gonzo-style pornography once their spouse or significant other has left them alone to do so. This exchange seems only to prove men and women, and individuals in general, vary in their sexualities. Gosh, there’s a shocker. Woops, sorry Gail. A shocker is a “body punishing” sexual act too isn’t it?

Where is Gail Dines obtaining this scientific information on men in relationships who secretly watch the Gonzo porn genre when they are alone? Did she steal Harry Potter’s cloak of invisibility from J.K. Rowling, and stand silently in couples’ bedrooms taking notes? How much pocket money does one get for participating in this highly invasive sexual study? We’re fairly certain it’s not enough for most men to divulge their online spank banks to complete strangers.

Ron Jeremy made a guest appearance on Fox Sports’ Cubed yesterday. Pizzi compliments Ron on his most famous feature, his glorious french tickler. How four sequels to The Last X Rated Movie are possible is discussed, and a challenge of “Blow” is proposed. No Charlie Sheen, not the space warlock kind. A contest of lung capacity pits Pizzi against Ron Jeremy in a test of who can blow up a long balloon faster. Of course, Ron Jeremy has experience Pizzi simply cannot comprehend. Yes, you read the headline right – we caught up with that Ron Jeremy for this interview. Actually, the actor and adult-film star has been getting a lot of attention in the food world lately. First up, he’s one of the stars of The Flying Pink Pig, an adult film about a sausage-serving food truck that has secret aphrodisiac powers. Jeremy is also promoting his own rum label, the limited edition Ron de Jeremy. We talked to him about the movie, the hooch and his favorite cuisine. Don’t worry, this is one interview that’s safe for work!

Zagat Buzz: What can viewers expect from your latest film, The Flying Pink Pig?

Ron Jeremy: They can expect comedy, eroticism and me – which is bad taste in jokes. But that’s why Sunny Lane’s in the movie – to distract you from my bad jokes. Which she does a great job of.

Zagat Buzz: Why is your character so intent on acquiring the namesake food truck – is the food really that good?

Ron Jeremy: Not only is the food good, but Sunny’s driving a great business, and I’m jealous of both.

Zagat Buzz: The movie is based on the recent food-truck craze. Are you a food-truck fan? Any favorite trucks?

Ron Jeremy: I’m not going to lie – but not really. I like them, and I patronize them, but I don’t seek them out.

Zagat Buzz: Do you see more food-truck–themed adult films on the horizon?

Ron Jeremy: Hopefully only the sequels to this one. I am sure there will be imitators, but none will be as good.

Zagat Buzz: You’ve been popping up a lot in the food world lately, what can you tell us about Ron de Jeremy, the rum label that bears your face and name?

Ron Jeremy: It’s delicious a dark rum. The producers live in Finland. The rum is made in Panama and I live in Los Angeles. It’s a whole international thing. You can find out everything you need to know about it at www.RondeJeremy.com. I also have a hot sauce, which is doing pretty good as well.

Zagat Buzz: Is rum your go-to drink of choice? What other cocktails or beverages do you like?

Zagat Buzz: How about restaurants – do you have any favorites?

Ron Jeremy: I love Rainbow Bar & Grill on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Zagat Buzz: Valentine’s day is coming up – what do you think is the ideal V-day date?

Ron Jeremy: Rainbow Bar & Grill, with or without a date. They’ve already ordered a case of Ron de Jeremy rum!

Zagat Buzz: What’s the last thing you ate before this interview, and was it any good?

Ron Jeremy: I actually had a great rib-eye steak in Las Vegas. I just got back. I forgot the name of the restaurant.

On one side, there’s the angry food truck owner. On the other, the defensive porn director. In the middle is porn star Ron Jeremy, who has the best perspective on the XXX taco truck. It began innocently enough when popular local food truck The Flying Pig began showing up in promos for “The Flying Pink Pig,” a food truck-themed porn film starring Sunny Lane.

Truck owner Joe Kim says he was misled and thought the truck was being used in a “romantic movie.” (Hey, to some people, a double-penetration scene on the cold steel of a taco truck counter is romantic.)

Kim filed suit to stop the film’s release, but “Flying Pink Pig” director Erica McLean stood standing her ground, telling us that Kim’s story about being misled is a bunch of hooey.

Kim and McLean may not relish the legal wrangling — or maybe they do and this is all a canny publicity stunt — but Ron Jeremy certainly believes there’s no such thing as bad publicity. Though he doesn’t have a sex scene in either film, Jeremy plays a competing food truck owner in “The Flying Pink Pig” and its sequel. When we spoke to Ron Jeremy yesterday, he told us:

“We want to thank [Joe Kim] very much for suing. We appreciate it. It’s like when “Debbie Does Dallas” came out and the Dallas Cheerleaders sued. They made it the most popular movie in America. I personally want to thank him for suing Erica.”

Explaining his onscreen role, Ron Jeremy says, “I’m the competitor and I try to take over the business. I’m in the original and the sequel, and in both of them I yell, ‘I hate you, Sunny, and your flying pink pig!’ Sunny Lane beats me in the business, using sex and things like that, of course.” Of course. He’s not sure, but he thinks the trucks sells cupcakes.

The role of the vicious food truck owner came naturally to Ron Jeremy. Now well into his 50s, the #1 porn star of all time, according to AVN, considers himself a sexual and a culinary hedonist. (He already has his own rum, Ron de Jeremy.)

“To me, eating is even more fun than sex — on and off screen,” the Hedgehog says. “Once you get to your mid-50s, and you have a blonde, a brunette and a redhead over here vs. a steak and a lobster over there. I’m sorry, but the surf-and-turf is calling me more.”

A cross section of adult performers and business people, including performers Sasha Grey, Ron Jeremy and Annie Sprinkle along with Hustler President Michael H. Klein and fetish web honcho Colin Rountree were asked their secrets to success and their brief histories in porn.

Ron Jeremy was interviewed on God, love and morality. Three things you wouldn’t normally expect a famous Porn icon to be asked about professionally. Of course, everyone here knows that Ron Jeremy is much more than just another swinging dick. He’s a GIANT SWINGING DICK! One with a very solid brain on it’s shoulders, and some pretty convincing opinions.

We gathered around the dinner table one night on the patio at Maxine’s, a South Beach mainstay for late eats. We prepared to break bread with an eclectic group of industry stars including HotMovies spokesperson Ron Jeremy and the incomparable Sunny Lane.

As drinks were served, we took the opportunity to speak with Mr. Jeremy about the legendary Cecil Howard and the making of Scoundrels, Howard’s AVN Award-winning epic about to be released for the first time in 25 years on HotMovies.com and Ron Jeremy’s Video Theater.

HM: Ron, it’s great to see you, as always. Please talk a little about your experience working with Cecil Howard on Scoundrels.

RJ: I was always doing comedy. All the Chuck Vincent comedies, I was known for that. Sizzle, Fascination, you know…. And then Cecil Howard has me do this movie where he goes, “No jokes, no cracking jokes, no typical Ron Jeremy laughing…” and I went along with it. It was a very, very serious psychodrama…. People are gonna see this film and say, damn, they made movies as good as Pirates back in those days.

Cecil Howard was one of the really good filmmakers. He never compromised. He did Neon Nights, he did Babylon Pink. He didn’t sacrifice for the video market, which started to take over.

Howard is actually the Burt Reynolds character from Boogie Nights. He refused to jump on that shooting videos format. He wanted to make motion pictures on FILM, not video. Babylon Pink, with Ron Sullivan (AKA Henri Pachard) directing and Cecil Howard producing, won so many awards in that era.

HM: Scoundrels was the very first AVN awarded Best Picture winner ever in 1982.

RJ: It might have been. Scoundrels was with me and Lisa Be. We played a family. It was great! I’d love to see that movie again.

HM: Do you remember Copper Penny, the hot young Penthouse model that never did any porn again?

RJ: Very well. She was the fantasy girl. She was the girl we all fantasize about. She was a Penthouse Pet, she would never do porn, but she’s in this porn film as the ultimate dream girl. I love this film so much. I remember this. She plays a cigarette girl and I see her by my apartment and I start fantasizing about her…. Then I leave with her and get stopped by a cop. It’s great. Abstract, esoteric, avant-garde. Scoundrels is really a very, very classy, well-made movie. Everything Cecil Howard ever did was classy.

HM: He asked us to give you his best.

RJ: I love that guy. First he put me in Foxtrot, I had a small part. He goes, “God, Ron Jeremy can really act. I’ll give you a lead in my next film.” So he gave me the lead in his next film, which was Scoundrels, 28 years ago – which was before Sunny Lane was even born.

He was a real classy filmmaker. It’s important to remember that a lot of filmmakers back in those days really (lived) exactly the part Burt Reynolds played in Boogie Nights. Remember those scenes where they try to tell Burt Reynolds that, “Look, get with the program! Stop shooting these full-length feature films on film – the market’s going video!”

Cheap DVDs, no storyline, pro-amateur, gonzo. Here’s the dialogue: “Here’s a cup of coffee. Blow me.” Or “Electrician! I’m here to fix your electricity.” “Eat me.” There. There’s your dialogue.

But back in those days, in the early ‘80s, they did really classy films. Real movies with sex in ‘em. A lot of famous directors got started back then: John Avildsen, who went on to direct Rocky; Wes Craven, who did Nightmare on Elm Street…. Mainstream filmmakers that back then, they started out doing porn.

Cecil Howard, Ron Sullivan, Chuck Vincent, Anthony Spinelli, Riley Metzger are the few filmmakers who exactly portrayed the Burt Reynolds character. They didn’t want to cheapen their product and shoot on video. It was insulting to them. These are the guys who did these full-length feature films with budgets of over $150,000 and made classy movies. Even Gerard Damiano, who did Deep Throat and The Devil in Miss Jones, he didn’t wanna do cheap porn. He never could adapt to that video style.

It’s a bad example but it’s like telling Steven Spielberg to direct a soap opera.

HM: Or a straight to video movie….

RJ: Exactly, he’s not gonna do it. For these guys, it was insulting to be asked.

These young kids of today, like the Rodnievisions, these guys can do it. But it was insulting to a Cecil Howard to ask him to do a wall-to-wall fuck film. Fred Lincoln adapted. Certain people adapted. Paul Thomas adapted to it. John Leslie adapted to it. The ones who didn’t often ended up obscure, poor, broke. Damiano, I think, died fairly poor. Made millions for the porn business and the mob, back in those days, but he died poor. But (the films they made) should absolutely be respected. Because they’re better than much of the crap you see today.

Pirates is a good example of a good movie. Pirates is a throwback to those movies. Porn film has become like Hollywood in that they’re divided into the B films and the A films. You could watch a high budget film by James Cameron or you could watch a (horror) film. You’ve got your As and Bs in Hollywood, in porn it’s the same thing.

HM: So is Cecil Howard like the James Cameron of porn?

RJ: Yes. I’d say he was.

HM: Talk for a minute about the dynamic of being an actor working with Cecil Howard.

RJ: You liked working with Cecil Howard or some of these other big directors because they had big story lines. Back in those days, when you worked on his films, you worked maybe ten days as an actor and then maybe one day of sex. Wake up in the morning and feel like an actor that day, (someone) who understood dialogue. In today’s day and age, every day you wake up, you’re fucking somebody.

HM: So it was in a different class.

RJ: Very classy. That’s why it was called the golden age of porn. The early ‘80s. The golden age of porn.

HM: It just isn’t the same anymore….

RJ: No. Though Cecil was in a way like John Stagliano. He wouldn’t whore out his product, you know? He claimed a high price for his product even if it caused him business problems. Same thing Stagliano would do…he maintained a certain reputation. He has the best directors. He’d hire Greg Dark, John Leslie, himself. He wouldn’t cheapen his product. Cecil Howard wouldn’t either. He’d rather not sell. He did his own editing and he took his project from start to finish. He kept a close watch on every aspect of that movie.

HM: Didn’t he rent out theaters? Did you ever go to any of openings, go watch porn in the theaters back then?

RJ: Back in those days certain filmmakers, they had the theaters back then. That shut down when everyone went video. Before there was video, you had to see a porn film in a theater. There was nowhere else to see it. Cecil Howard would go to play his films there and he knew he had the best product. He would do what’s called four-walling. When you four-walled a theater, you would buy the theater for a week or two…pay the rent and keep the profits. It was an investment, but you’d make the bigger money. That only happened until the end of that golden era.

With a part in “Finding Bliss,” adult movie legend Ron Jeremy is still seeking to show the world that he can do mainstream movies.

Even as “Bliss” depicts the life of an aspiring director (Leelee Sobieski) who is forced to edit adult movies for a day job, Jeremy manages to stay fully clothed on camera — while mainstream actors like Jamie Kennedy take it all off.

“In ‘Finding Bliss’ I spend my entire scene on stage in a tuxedo,” Jeremy tells PopcornBiz of the movie opening on Friday. “I actually kind of prefer it that way.”

Ron Jeremy has consulted Hollywood cast and directors during the odd foray into the adult world. On “Boogie Nights” he received a consulting credit and recalls that most every cast member sat in on one of his adult film sets to get an idea of the real world they were about to portray.

“They all showed up except for Burt Reynolds. He didn’t think he needed to,” Ron Jeremy laughs. “Julianne Moore was a good sport. She was in this small hotel room and had to keep moving out of the way of camera so she wouldn’t end up in the shot.”

He even gave consulting time to Jamie Kennedy who plays a dimwitted porn star in “Finding Bliss.”

“I gave him the ins and outs of the business,” says Ron Jeremy.

“Bliss” director Judy Davis says she wanted to give Ron Jeremy a bigger part in the movie, but he’s actually too well-known to play a adult film character other than himself. “There wasn’t a part for him, because he’s so famous,” says Davis. “He has to play himself.”

But Jeremy points to at least three films that he’s appeared in with his clothes fully intact which live on — “Detroit Rock City” (1999), “Orgasmo” (1997) and “Boondock Saints” (1999).

“These are three films I did that I kept my clothes on and they are huge films,” says Ron Jeremy. “They are cult films.”

They were an odd couple: a porn star whose sexual partners number over 2,000 and a former child star who was a real-life 40-year-old virgin. But when news hit about the death of former child star Gary Coleman, his passing struck up some fond remembrances for Ron Jeremy.

“I loved his smile,” said Ron Jeremy, who worked with the diminutive star of Diff’rent Strokes professionally in four projects.

“Getting to know Coleman wasn’t easy,” Ron Jeremy told AVN. “Gary was very serious sometimes. … If he didn’t know you, he’d say hi and just keep walking. … He didn’t want to spend a lot of time with people he didn’t know.”

Underneath that shy exterior was a playful soul. “He loved toys,” Ron Jeremy said. “He didn’t experience a real childhood,” he added, as explanation for why Coleman found such satisfaction in such pursuits as playing with model trains.

The differences between the unlikely partners were highlighted when they both appeared on The Weakest Link in 2002. Talking about their stint on the game show, Jeremy recalled, “I voted him off, and then Corey Feldman voted me off. That was the show where after Annie announced that I had been with thousands of women, Gary said, ‘I’m the opposite of Ron Jeremy—I’m a virgin.’ ”

And, added Ron Jeremy, Coleman was “happy to be so.”

Coleman also shared a television set with Jeremy in 2004, when the porn star was on The Surreal Life with an oddball assortment of characters that included Tammy Faye Messner (formerly Bakker), Vanilla Ice and Erik Estrada. Gary Coleman had a guest-starring role, but he stormed off the set. According to Ron Jeremy, Coleman was annoyed when Vanilla Ice repeatedly repeated Coleman’s catch phrase from Diff’rent Strokes, “Whatchu talking’ ’bout, Willis?”…
